Bioinspired cross-linking of preceramic polymers via metal ion coordination bonding

چکیده
Metal coordination chemistry is common in biology, with many proteins containing metal ion-based structural motifs or catalytic centers. An interesting example of nature’s use coordinate bonding to create a proteinaceous material found the Alitta virens marine worm jaw. Inspired by Zn+2 cross-linked polymers A. virens, we have extended cross-linking preceramic polymers. Commercially available Si-based backbones functionalized pyridyl-moieties were introduced ions initiate cross-linking. offered single knob tune multiple characteristics before and after pyrolysis. The loading into polymer impacted viscoelastic properties, thermal stability, ceramic yield. Pyrolysis yielded representative ion cross-linker (e.g., forming TiC/SiC nanocomposites).

The aim of this study was to develop an extended-release tablet formulation using a new in situ cross-linking method. The effects of polyvalent cations on theophylline release from tablets made with the polyanionic polymers sodium alginate and sodium carboxymethylcellulose, were investigated. Different miliequivalents of the di and tri-valent cation, Ca2+ and Al3+, were added to tablet form...
متن کاملControl of hierarchical polymer mechanics with bioinspired metal-coordination dynamics
In conventional polymer materials, mechanical performance is traditionally engineered via material structure, using motifs such as polymer molecular weight, polymer branching, or block copolymer design. Here, by means of a model system of 4-arm poly(ethylene glycol) hydrogels crosslinked with multiple, kinetically distinct dynamic metal-ligand coordinate complexes, we show that polymer material...
